Top quality programming since 1953

KTVB launched in 1953 as KIDO-TV, broadcasting from a site in the Boise foothills on Crestline drive.

Just 30 or so televisions existed in the Boise area on July 12th - with hundreds gathering to see the first broadcast. The inventor of television (and Idaho native) Philo T. Farsnworth was on hand for the first broadcast.

From a simple broadcast to two dozen televisions - to a multi-media orginization that reaches more than 100,000 Idahoans each week, KTVB is constantly looking for new ways to serve our viewing area with top quality news and programming.

KTVB-TV is now part of the KTVB News Group - which includes the legacy TV station, as well as KTFT-TV 38 in Twin Falls, the 24/7 cable news channel, news website KTVB.COM, and entertainment and classifieds website ZIdaho.com.

The KTVB News Group is a subsidiary of Belo Corp., based in Dallas, TX. Belo serves more than 30 million Americans each week, with television, print and interactive offerings.
